Middle Tennessee Locally Grown:  Time to Order Fresh Local Farm Products!

Manchester Locally Grown Farmers’ Market

Good morning!

The market is open as usual, and will remain open for your orders till Tuesday at 10 pm. Please be sure to read the section of the page entitled “Important Ordering and Pickup Information.”

FARM NEWS OF THE WEEK

Kountry Vittles Baked Goods has finally added a bunch of new cookies – check ‘em out. You’re bound to find an ole favorite, or try something new and tickle those taste buds. I have added my best selling Stay Soft Sugar Cookie with buttercream icing, just in time for Valentine’s Day. Wouldn’t your Special Someone just love these?

Debbie Wittig of Knottynuffacres will be traveling, visiting grandchildren, for the next few weeks and has made her products unavailable to the market. We wish her safe travels and look forward to her return.

Next week is Valentine’s Day! This year, instead of a box of chocolate, why not give something different? Dogwood Valley Greenhouse has begonia planters dressed up for the holiday and guaranteed nonfattening! They are under “Live Plants —> Houseplants” as well as under “Seasonal Items”. Quantities are limited, so order yours soon. For your gardening Valentine, we also have Gift Certificates custom completed in any denomination you choose. “Think outside the box” of chocolates this year!

IMPORTANT ORDERING AND PICKUP INFORMATION

Ordering will be open until TUESDAY at 10 p.m., and your order will be available for pickup on THURSDAY between 4:00 and 5:30 at our tents located outside Manchester Farm Store, 251 Interstate Dr., Manchester. We can also deliver your order to your home (or other location) on Friday afternoons, for a small fee, if it’s more convenient for you. If you prefer to utilize this service, please place an order for it, same as other products, selecting your delivery area. Don’t forget to give us your location address in the comments section of the order. Also please text Linda at (931) 273-9708 for specific arrangements.

Thanks so much for your support of Manchester Locally Grown Market, and your friends and neighbors who have grown and produced these items. Please encourage our local farmers by helping to spread the word about our wonderful market to everyone you know. We offer a great variety of local farm products, and our items will be in your hands in time to plan for the weekend. Wonderful local products are available for ordering from the comfort of your own computer.

More new farmers are considering joining our market, if they can expect enough sales to help pay their transportation costs. Please help us grow the market by sharing this e-mail with your friends and inviting them to give us a try. And if you haven’t ordered from Manchester Locally Grown for a while, please check out our wide variety of offerings this week. Also please let us know if we can improve our selection or scheduling in any way to better suit your needs.

Blessings,
Linda

Fisher's Produce:  2017 CSA Registration Open

Dear Friends,

We are getting geared up for our 2017 season with tomato seeds already sprouting! We are looking forward to having the full CSA back after last year’s break.

We are expecting to do the same market style plan that we have been using. New items for this year will include the addition of our own blackberries! Also, we will be doing a slightly shorter season with 13 regularly scheduled deliveries from Thursday, April 13 through Thursday, July 6. The price will also be lower at $270.00 for the season. We may do several encore edition deliveries later in July if the weather and garden permit.

In addition to weekly produce, you and your family will be invited to join us for a harvest dinner on the farm sometime during the second half of June. You will also be able to come out and get your hands dirty on farm “work days.” These are not mandatory! but an opportunity for those who wish to be more involved or give their children the first hand experience of seeing a farm in action. Some planned farm day projects: potato and onion harvest, high tunnel building, and sweet corn picking!

We would be pleased to increase up to forty members this summer! Tell your friends!

Blessings from the Fisher,

Luke, Chantee, Hudson, and Maria

Fisher's Produce Tulsa:  Fishers Produce 2017 CSA

Dear Friends,

We are getting back into gear after our year in Congo and are ready to open CSA registration for our 2017 season. Our community supported agriculture program is an opportunity for you to partner with the farmers that grow your food.

We are going to make some big changes to our Tulsa deliveries this year. Our current plan is to retire from Brookside Market (with a few sweet corn exceptions) and instead set up a CSA market stand at B’nai Emunah Synagogue on Wednesday evenings. All Brookside and other former Tulsa members welcome! This will still be a CSA, but you will be able to pick out your own vegetables with some choice and flexibility as to what and how much you would like to take home each week. You will also be able to visit with us and fellow members who may be picking up at the same time. We can share growing tips, recipe ideas, and in general, have a real community.

We plan to deliver to B’nai Emunah each Wednesday from April 19 through July 5. This will be twelve weeks of fresh produce at $25.00 per week. We may also do an encore edition delivery on July 19 and others later depending on how the weather and garden are doing. We will set up in front of the synagogue for two hours each week from 3:30-5:30 (or possibly 6:00?) Please let us know your preferred pick-up time in the sign-up form/survey.

Some of our highlights this year will be asparagus, strawberries, tomatoes, peppers, sweet corn, and more blackberries, but we will have the full range of spring and summer garden staples and favorites as they come into season.

Spa City Local Farm Market Co-op:  The market is now open for ordering

The Spa City Co-op market is now open for ordering at spacity.locallygrown.net.

Please place your orders before Tuesday at 9 pm, and plan to pick up your orders at Emergent Arts on Friday February 10th from 3PM to 4:30PM. If you’re unable to pick up your order at this time please make arrangements to have your order picked up for you.

Don’t forget – this market has no paid positions, so we NEED VOLUNTEERS to run every market. It’s fun, you get a $5 gift card as well as extend your membership by 2 months, and you learn so much about local foods in Arkansas.
Have a great week and see you on Friday!

Thank you for choosing Northeast Georgia Locally Grown as a way to support your local producers. This online farmers market allows you to buy directly from multiple farms committed to chemical-free and local produce all year long! CHEMICAL-FREE means produce and pastures grown without synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides. LOCAL means within 80 miles from the market pickup locations (usually much much closer). Do you know someone who grows chemical-free food in the area? Get them in touch with us. Know someone who wants fresh food? Spread the word. Put the two together, and that’s growing organically!
