CLG:  Opening Bell: Beef, Eggs, Pork, Mushrooms!

Happy New Year!
Thanks to all the dedicated Members and Growers who safely made it to the market Friday! I was encouraged that over half of those picking up on Friday said how much they appreciated that we didn’t cancel. And a few even said that when they saw the snow that morning, their first thought was, “Will CLG be open?” Well, that was my first thought too!

Reminder: We will NOT have market pickup on Friday, January 27th.

You may have noticed a NEW ITEM: Goat Cheese from White River Creamery. It’s not available just yet, but soon. Stay tuned for the official announcement in a few weeks.

Most items are listed by 6pm Sunday, but check back again before the market closes Tuesday night to see if any other items are ready to be harvested for you! Eat fresh! Eat local! Eat for better health!

Check out 440 wonderful items listed right now. See you on Friday!

And save your eggshells throughout the week for the laying hens! :-)

The market is now OPEN for orders. Click here to start shopping:

Dothan, Alabama:  Growing and Going . . .

Special Announcement

Friday is a special day for us at Market at Dothan. For a number of weeks we have been in contact with the Daleville Chamber of Commerce ironing out an idea from one of our brilliant vendors: A Daleville Pickup Location!

This Friday at 11:30, Daleville is hosting a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for our new pickup location at the corner of 134 and Daleville Avenue. Wendy Robbins will be delivering Market orders to that location on Fridays between 11:30 am and 1:30 pm.

We realize that coming to our regular (perfect!) Market location at Dothan Nurseries doesn’t work for everybody and there are many in the Wiregrass who would LOVE to be able to participate more but can’t because of work, distance, etc. This is one way to make the Market more accessible to our friends and colleagues in Daleville, Level Plains, Ft. Rucker and Enterprise. Many of you have been making the drive to Dothan as you are able and this is one thing we can do to make things easier for YOU.

So thank you, all of you who have been loyal supporters of the Market. A huge thank you to Nancy at the Daleville Chamber of Commerce who has had such a huge part in making this happen, and a huge thank you to Wendy Robbins (picture below) who thought of this and is making it possible. You’re all the BEST!

If you are picking up at Dothan Nurseries there is nothing special you need to do. Your order will be bagged and ready for your arrival as usual.

If you need to pick up your order in Daleville, use the words, “DALEVILLE PLEASE” in the comments section of your order. That will alert us that your completed order needs to travel to meet you.

And that’s all there is to it!

Thank you for choosing Northeast Georgia Locally Grown as a way to support your local producers. This online farmers market allows you to buy directly from multiple farms committed to chemical-free and local produce all year long! CHEMICAL-FREE means produce and pastures grown without synthetic fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides. LOCAL means within 80 miles from the market pickup locations (usually much much closer). Do you know someone who grows chemical-free food in the area? Get them in touch with us. Know someone who wants fresh food? Spread the word. Put the two together, and that’s growing organically!

NEWS AND NOTES

Whew! What a cold market day we had last week! Thank you to all our farmers and customers who arrived so promptly! Michael and I were able to wrap up market and leave premises before 5 pm, much to our great relief. We will look forward to spending time with everyone and chatting about new products, etc, on a warmer day! Hopefully this week will be a lot different, weather-wise.

Weaver Farms hamburger is normally $6.50 a pound, but this week they will do a special: 5 pounds for $30!

Catherine from Flying S Farms writes:
We will have farm fresh eggs, sour dough plain, 7-grain and wheat breads available in full or half loaf size as well as rolls, great for grilled cheese sandwiches or peanut butter jelly sandwiches. Rolls make great sliders or mini buns. Your toast deserves the best with some of our award winning jams. Enjoy a treat with our Friendship breads, slice for a cake type dessert or top with fruit topping or your favorite ice cream. Dip in egg mix for French type toast.

If the weather is as nice as the forecast now says, Dogwood Valley Greenhouse will have some beautiful hanging basket houseplants, Aloe vera and Rex begonias at market on Thursday. And maybe even some flowering Christmas cacti. Pick up a couple of plants to beautify your home and to help raise the inside humidity this winter.

We will be glad to deliver your order to you, at home or a location of your choice, on Friday afternoons for a small fee. Order delivery just like any other product.

(L to R) Several scents of Goat Milk Soap and Deodorant from Solace Farm, 1 lb Butter from the Altamont Mennonites, Brussels Sprouts from Frontier Family Farm, Eco-Soy Candle from Botanical Harmony.

IMPORTANT ORDERING AND PICKUP INFORMATION

Ordering will be open until TUESDAY at 10 p.m., and your order will be available for pickup on THURSDAY between 4:00 and 5:30 at our tents located outside Manchester Farm Store, 251 Interstate Dr., Manchester. We can also deliver your order to your home (or other location) on Friday, if it’s more convenient for you. If you prefer to utilize this service, please place an order for it, same as other products, selecting your delivery area. Don’t forget to give us your location address in the comments section of the order. Also please text Linda at (931) 273-9708 for specific arrangements.

Thanks so much for your support of Manchester Locally Grown Market, and your friends and neighbors who have grown and produced these items. Please encourage our local farmers by helping to spread the word about our wonderful market to everyone you know. We offer a great variety of local farm products, and our items will be in your hands in time to plan for the weekend. Wonderful local products are available for ordering from the comfort of your own computer.

More new farmers are considering joining our market, if they can expect enough sales to help pay their transportation costs. Please help us grow the market by sharing this e-mail with your friends and inviting them to give us a try. And if you haven’t ordered from Manchester Locally Grown for a while, please check out our wide variety of offerings this week. Also please let us know if we can improve our selection or scheduling in any way to better suit your needs.

Blessings,

Linda
