Joyful Noise Acres Farm:  JNA on-line market is open for ordering.

LOVIN’ the weather! It is just perfect for firing up the grill. Tonight we are grilling spare ribs and okra with sweet potatoes on the side. YUM.

We are blessed to have Georgia Farm to Table on our market. Glenn and Christy were thrown into the clean food delivery business rather unexpectantly but the concept and commitment has paid off. Their goal is to purchase local food from local farmers. They look for Certified Naturally Grown farms and also farms that do not use harsh sprays and chemicals. Each box features fruits and vegetables. Their boxes do keep with the seasonal aspect of growing and eating. Between groing seasons, choices can be limited so they will add produce from South Georgia or Florida to keep the boxes full. It is a good value and also a way to try something you might not otherwise purchase. Also, Christy is wonderful about making substitutions if there is something in the box you just don’t want.

Thank you for supporting your local growers.
Blessings,
Mary Beth

Champaign, OH:  Beautiful Day

It was a beautiful day…
Don’t let it get away…
Beautiful day…
(Beautiful Day-U2)

Today was one of those days that you just wanted to reach out, and embrace! Perfect sunshine, perfect temperatures, perfect soft breeze. The kind of day in very late August when you begin to see subtle changes. Changes in how the leaves look, changes in the hue of colors that begin to paint the natural landscape, changes in afternoon shadows, and changes in the evening fade…

It’s the time of season when everything looks like it is washed in golden tones. When we begin to think ahead to the shift of seasonal items, when we prepare to make this market, the only market in the winter months, when we embrace all of the remaining summer produce, almost at it’s peak, and taking advantage of it while we still have it!

I urge you go get to know this market, again. Or, continue to order just as you have been doing. If you have never placed an order, let this week be a week of trying something from our market. It’s fast, it’s easy, it’s affordable, the market is friendly, and best of all…it’s local!!

I open the market, tonight, after the most amazing day of golden sunshine. We are here for all of your needs, and we love our customers, so much!

Think about how you can make your life simple, and make each day a beautiful day. Order with us…

Peace, Love, Good Vibes…
Cosmic Pam

Green Pasture FCLO Alert

As you all know I’ve been a supporter of Green Pasture Fermented Cod Liver Oil products for many years. Last Saturday a study was released that gave me a lot of distress. A link to the study is here http://drkaayladaniel.com/hook-line-and-stinker-opt-in/
In a nutshell, tests were done and the oil was found to be rancid and not Artic Cod but Alaskan Pollack (in the cod family but a less expensive fish used commercially in products such as fish sticks and imitation crab).

There are always at least two sides to every story so I awaited Dave Wetzel’s (Green Pasture owner) response that was released on Monday. Click here to see response http://www.greenpasture.org/utility/showarticle/?eid=4186&usid=d5348b9f776164425b6bbf8ebf0556bc&objectID=9336

I will tell you all that this year I have personally had some trouble getting the FCLO to go down. I’ve been thinking that maybe my taste buds are changing as I’m getting older but now I’m wondering if it’s my body telling something is not right. I’m hoping it’s just old age.. My family and I have seen some remarkable benefits in the past from this product and I know many of you have too. I want you all to have as much information as possible to make an informed decision.

As for me, right now, a seed of doubt has definitely been placed in my mind and I am holding off consuming or giving this product to my family. I will never recommend a product that I would not personally give to my own family. In the meantime, we will no longer have a group buy for Green Pasture until it is clear what the truth is. Weston A Price Foundation is currently investigating the allegations and I am confident that the truth will come out!

I will keep you posted as more information is released in the upcoming weeks.

Here are also some links to what others are saying to help you make an informed decision:

CSA Farmers Market:  Growing Season Update Aug 27, 2015

NEW APPLES THIS WEEK. Almars are now picking Ginger Gold apples and they have a lot of Paula Red apples available. Next week they will be picking Machintosh Apples. Almar grades their apples into two grades #1, which is close to being blemish free and #2’s which have more blemishes (these are also called weather kissed), these apples are not bruised. The apples are hand picked and the ones that don’t make either grade are than turned into a wonderful blend of cider. When making the cider they use more than one variety of apples in combinations that make wonderfully flavored cider. To add other products to the mix they make switchel, apple cider vinegar and hard cider. When the fall season is in full swing they start making apple cider donuts.

Law Family farm has sugar baby watermelons. They are known for their super sweet flavor and smaller sizes. Perfect for most families that are only feeding the family that day and not the neighborhood. If you do not see them on the website when the market has opened check back he may still be picking them
