We’ll talk about planting dates, spacing, interplanting and succession plantings. Using information from the best national and local gardeners you’ll learn to apply these techniques to a single raised bed or a full sized market garden. Hope to see you then! We are able to offer the workshop free of charge thanks to our FMPP grant from the USDA. The class is limited to 50 people. Please email Michelle Pridgen at independencefarmersmarket@gmail.com to register.

Are you interested in becoming a vendor? Are you a vendor already? If you answered yes to any of these questions, please join us for a potluck lunch on Friday, April 7th at the Grayson National Bank Conference Center from 11 am – 2 pm. Suwanee Whole Life Co-op:  Please read if you have a Nature’s Garden Express produce box account

If you pick up at our BUFORD location and have a Nature’s Garden Express produce box account there is NO change so you can stop reading now :-)

If you plan to pick up at our SUWANEE location and have a Nature’s Garden Express (NGE) produce box account please read this email. Since NGE delivers to our area only on Tuesdays I’ve decided that our produce box provider will be Fresh Harvest at our location in Suwanee.

Below are instructions if you want to set up an account to have your Fresh Harvest produce basket delivered to our Suwanee pick up location at a discounted co-op rate.

Their process is similar to NGE- you can make exchanges, add on items, no weekly commitment, payment is directly with them, and receive high quality organic fruits and vegetables. Their prices are comparable to NGE after the 15% co-op discount that will be applied to your basket order.

Here is the process for signing up:

- Go to freshharvestga.com
- Click “Sign Up” in the top right corner
- Select a type of basket
- Select frequency of delivery
- Input personal information
- Select “Suwanee Whole Life Co-op” as your ‘Delivery Location’ from the scroll down menu
- Receive 15% off every basket!

You will receive the “harvest email” on Wednesday afternoons. It will let you know what is coming in your basket the following week. You have until 2pm Friday to make customizations or add additional items.
You can make as many customizations as you like and that will not change the price of your basket. Then you will receive your basket the following Thursday at our Suwanee pick up location.

Fresh Harvest will be at our Launch Party tomorrow if you’d like to meet them!!

Champaign, OH:  Tuesday Night Reminder!

The market is rockin! Don’t miss out on the fun!!

Miami County Locally Grown:  Tonight's featured vendor? Mosquito Creek Farm!!

Beloved from the Downtown Troy Farmer’s Market, Mosquito Creek is famous for their artisan baked goods, including those versatile pizza crusts and irresistable cookies!

Five years ago, we were hosting a small sorghum-making demonstration on our farm when a strange vehicle came up the drive… enter the delightful Chipps family – modern homesteaders with 6 kids and a passion for natural, healthful living.

Mom Jessica has loved baking since she was a kid, and became THE bread baker of the family because her mom hated it. She’d been on a quest for artisan sourdough breads, and with the economy down a few years ago, they decided to take their perfected breads and abundant garden harvests to the Downtown Troy Farmer’s Market.

It’s definitely a family affair with each member helping at the summer market, where they’re beloved, familiar faces on Cherry Street with their extensive display. They simply do a bit of everything, and do it all so well… the artisan baked goods and pizza crusts, the fresh produce from their bountiful garden… and don’t forget those yummy cookies, like the gingersnaps you sampled tonight at pick-up… as well as Aunt Sarah’s cookies, blending peanut butter, chocolate chips and oatmeal – genius!

I felt I’d been transported to The Little House in the Big Woods when I visited their home, and was thrilled to see Jessica in action, whipping up a mountain of those famous pizza crusts. To watch her make something so delicious look entirely effortless was quite a treat. And to think she’d make 100 crusts at time, when they became her most popular item at the farmer’s market! Incredible!

As down-to-earth a person you could ever meet, Jessica’s a wealth of information, and I could pick her brain for days… everything from herbal remedies and essential oils to soap recipes, sourdoughs, and homeschooling.

I’m so happy to have them on the market, and grateful call them friends!
